Blending and bottling represent the final stages in the journey of rum making. It is here that the individual qualities developed during aging are brought together, refined, and preserved.

At Antigua Distillery Limited, this process is guided by experience and precision, ensuring that each rum reflects its intended style and character. From selection to bottling, every step is approached with care to maintain the integrity of the spirit.

Blending

A Measured and Patient Process

Blending is both an art and a science. Our Master Blender draws on experience to identify the subtle interplay of aroma and flavour, while laboratory analysis ensures consistency across every batch.

We follow a small batch approach, with blending carried out in carefully controlled batches. Barrels of the same vintage are selected and combined in oak vats, allowing the rum to integrate while preserving its connection to the wood and its aging journey.

Bringing the rum to its final strength is a gradual process. Pure water is added in controlled stages, allowing the spirit to rest between each step and develop naturally without disrupting its structure. This process can take several weeks, particularly for aged expressions. During this time, the rum opens and integrates, creating a profile that is smooth, balanced, and cohesive.

Refinement and Bottling

Before bottling, the rum undergoes final evaluation to ensure it meets the desired standard of quality and consistency. It is then carefully filtered to remove any remaining particles, resulting in a clear and polished spirit ready for bottling.
